Frequently Asked Questions

I do talk to book clubs! I love love love book clubs. What I don’t love is time spent driving, though, so here are the options:
I’ll meet with a book club anywhere for an hour via Zoom.
If you’re within a twenty-minute drive of me, I’ll meet with you for an hour in person.
If your group is willing to come to my favorite restaurant, El Meson, I’ll happily join you. El Meson can set you up in a private room.

I meet with book clubs for free! BUT I do ask that in exchange for my time, as many people as possible buy the book you’re discussing (in any format—physical book, e-book, or audio book), rather than sharing it or getting it from the library. Book sales really matter to an author and make it possible for me to spend so much time visiting book clubs (and to keep publishing!). I’ll happily sign and/or personalize physical books. Obviously, I won’t enforce this or “check books,” but it is my heartfelt request.

I don’t do book coaching that involves talking with you one-on-one, helping you brainstorm ideas, or making a plan for you. But everyone who takes my Writer’s 12-Step class through Word’s Worth Writing Connections gets group coaching and encouragement. You can read the full description of the class, which begins every January, on Word’s Worth’s website.

I do manuscript evaluations, on a limited basis. I actually love to read a draft and help the writer approach revisions so that they elevate their story to a whole new level. Everyone needs objective eyes, and I think one of my strengths is reading a draft and seeing missed opportunities. Click here for more information about how I do manuscript evaluations and how much it costs.

If you want me to speak to a group that isn’t a book club, email me at katrina@katrinakittle.com and answer as many of the questions below as you can. That will help determine my fee.
What do you want me to talk about?
How many people will be there?
Will this be an in-person or a virtual event? (I’m happy to do either.)
Where will the event be?
How long do you want my talk to last?
What date and time will the event be?
If the event is in person but not local to me, I require that my travel and hotel are paid for.
